Brad Pitt is set to star and produce a poker related movie tentatively called Cogan's Trade.  The movie is based on a crime novel by George V. Higgins. Pitt is to play the role of a professional enforcer who tries to work out how a robbery was carried out at a mafia protected high stakes poker game.

The picture is designed as an ensemble piece with comedic overtones. Cogan's Trade has been set up independently, and financed by Inferno Entertainment, who will handle international sales.

Andrew Dominik will be the director.  Dominik worked with Pitt on The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Sam Rockwell, Casey Affleck, Mark Ruffalo and Javier Bardem are also linked with the project.

Having such a high profile group of actors gives hope to the poker fan that this movie will give a good representation and further popularize poker, much like Rounders did over a decade ago.

The dates for filming and releasing Cogan's Trade haven't been released yet.
